On Call

On Call

By Arlene Wallis

I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” —Isaiah 6:8

Matthew 22:14 (KJV)For many are called, but few are chosen.

Many people in the workforce today are active in jobs that require them to be on call.  They must be ready at a moment’s notice to go into work and perform duties that they have either been trained for, worked with, or know about.

In my line of work that is known as an essential employee, meaning you are ready with knowledge at hand how to get through any emergency situation and remain calm while doing so.  i97108753._szw480h1280_Sometimes the call comes in the middle of the night sometimes the action is in broad daylight!  Either way, we are always on the ready!

Many of us know the above verses and the stories behind them.  I was thinking on these verses after church today.  Being on call for God, what exactly does that mean? Are we on call for Him or is it that He is on call for us?

We know that Jesus was speaking of a wedding banquet in Matthew.  Such care and time taken to celebrate and then those invited make every excuse not to be there but then want to get mad when they feel that those beneath them are sitting where they should or are not dressed properly (v:11-13)

In Isaiah, the call was directly to Isaiah, it was overheard and heeded.  Many in ministry heed the call and remain on call for a word from our heavenly Father on how to guide the flock.  The voice of God is never far from us if we are still to listen and open to hear from Him.

The Holy Spirit is at work making sure what we have no words for can be voiced to God!  In other words, the Holy Spirit is always on call!

You don’t have to worry about how you are dressed, who is attending, who did not attend or whether you will be heard or not.  Heeding the word, work or call is what is important and that it is acted upon when received.

When you don’t have the words, can’t quite wrap your head around what you are feeling or just feel like giving up, know that in your despair you have the best emergency call center ready to handle your every need that was bought and paid for by the one who died for you and I so that we could have the benefit of never-ending love.  Jesus did it for you!

World Prayr has chosen to be different, starting with teaching others that the pilgrimage all those who have been brought near to God are on is not one about our focusing on what we are doing, or focusing on our sin or anything we are not doing, but focusing on what Christ did in order for us to know transforming grace. We refer to this message as the gospel of grace. We then live this out as a ministry by serving others through counseling, prayer, and sound biblical teachings.

We also differ from most ministries in another key area, working to live out the message of Philippians 2:4 by aggressively promoting other ministries and churches. As a mission team, World Prayr is working to serve those who are disconnected to reconnect them, one soul at a time, to local bodies of believers.

We refer to our team as an “Ohana” made up of many nationalities spread across the globe and within the Protestant faith.
