COPE and Forgiven Ministry

COPE and Forgiven Ministry

COPE is an international network of ministries providing fellowship, promoting excellence, sharing resources and encouraging unity among those called to criminal justice/restorative justice/prison ministry.
COPE’s purpose – to equip you for YOUR purpose. Founded on a vision to build an army of ministries coming out of prison, COPE is a professional service organization for all of you who serve in Criminal Justice Ministry.

Whatever you call it, if you are involved in ministry to inmates, their families, victims, ex-offenders, juveniles, etc., COPE is for you!

COPE leadership brings its abilities, experience and resources to recruit, establish and strengthen Christian ministry to criminal justice systems throughout the world.

Meet one of Cope’s members – Forgiven Ministry

Our mission is to meet the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the children of inmates, the inmates themselves, ex-inmates, and their families with the result of healing wounds forgiven_logoinflicted by crime, redirecting lives, and restoring these individuals into the community as productive citizens, parents and family members.

Reaching, Reconciling and Restoring Lives is our purpose. By encouraging change from within the individual, we can reduce recidivism, stop the cycle of crime, avoid the waste of human capital and lessen the burden that offenders and their families place on society. Eighty percent of the children of incarcerated parents follow in the footsteps of that parent and end up in prison themselves. Preventing an at-risk child from turning to gangs, drugs, and crime is one of the most important ways to make our communities safe and productive for our children in the future.

Reconciling the inmates with their families and with God is the most promising way we see to bring about this change from within. Surrounding the inmates and their families with unconditional love from a supportive Christian community at the camps and in the follow-up programs can truly make a difference that to some would seem impossible. Forgiveness makes this reconciliation possible.

We seek to bring our programs into every state with state leaders and volunteers to carry out our mission.

World Prayr has chosen to be different, starting with teaching others that the pilgrimage all those who have been brought near to God are on is not one about our focusing on what we are doing, or focusing on our sin or anything we are not doing, but focusing on what Christ did in order for us to know transforming grace. We refer to this message as the gospel of grace. We then live this out as a ministry by serving others through counseling, prayer, and sound biblical teachings.

We also differ from most ministries in another key area, working to live out the message of Philippians 2:4 by aggressively promoting other ministries and churches. As a mission team, World Prayr is working to serve those who are disconnected to reconnect them, one soul at a time, to local bodies of believers.

We refer to our team as an “Ohana” made up of many nationalities spread across the globe and within the Protestant faith.
