Why Didn’t They Believe?
The Israelites were in bondage for 400 years. Then God rescued them in amazing ways. The people saw the same things. They not only saw, they experienced God’s rescue. They saw the Red Sea parting, they saw the enemy, the Egyptian army drowned and destroyed. Over and over the Israelites saw what God did for them to release them from slavery and bondage.
Yet they didn’t let what they had seen and what they had experienced, change them. They didn’t move forward into the promise land. Only Moses, Joshua, and Caleb believed God was enough and His power was sufficient. Out of a million people, only three men believed.
Why? Where were the rest? Didn’t they see? Why didn’t the rest believe and want to go forward?
When Jesus walked the earth, He healed, restored sight and limbs, fed thousands, released people from demons, and performed miracle after miracle. Why did those who Jesus touched, fed, and healed, demand He be executed? Out of all the people who had seen and been touched by Jesus’ healing and restoration, only a few believed.
Why did those who knew Jesus best not believe He would rise again? Why wasn’t anyone waiting in anticipation for His return? Was everyone so convinced Jesus came only to bring an earthly kingdom they couldn’t understand His death was only the beginning?
Why didn’t they believe? Didn’t they see? Did they all forget? Did they all chose not to remember? Did they refuse to believe and remember what God and Jesus had done in their lives?
How many times do our own thoughts, ideas, and our own way of looking at things, keep us from believing God’s amazing plans?
Believe. Open your eyes, open your heart, stay open to watch how God has worked and is working. Don’t ever forget. Always believe and remember what God and Jesus have done in your life. Jesus Christ brings freedom, restoration, and release from the enemy. Keep seeing. Keep believing. Keep moving forward. The promised land awaits, the miracles abound today and always, move forward in the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ and the unfailing love of God.
Be one who believes!
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” ~ 1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV
