Spread the Encouragement
by Magumba Carlos Waiswa
“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25).
Scripture Focus: Hebrews 10:19-25
In sports parlance a team’s “spiritual leader” is not necessarily its religious leader. He is simply the leading motivator, the spirited encourager of his teammates. He makes them believe in themselves, and he leads them into competition with a winning attitude in their hearts.
Encouragement must surely rank high as one of the best gifts any of us can pass on to another human being. Discouragement can sneak into every life, weighing us down, crippling our spirit, and taking the wind out of our sails. Discouragement robs us of joy and the ability to succeed.
It keeps us from being what God wants us to be and doing what He wants us to do. Encouragement, though, lifts us up, renews our spirit, and puts the wind in our sails. It gladdens our hearts and drives us forward toward a noble goal.
Be encouraged today. God is on your side. And then why not spread the encouragement around? Someone near you could use a lift.
Insight: A person will go father when he receives a pat on the back rather than a crushing blow to the spirit.
