Sunday Collectives 5/19/14 – 5/25/14
By Bibles for China
Bibles for China’s mission is to provide God’s Word (The Bible), free of charge, to Christians living in remote economically depressed areas of rural mainland China.
Many people living in rural China already know the love of God, but for most families, their hard earned income barely covers basic needs. Because of remote location and lack of monetary resources, they simply do not have access to Bibles. Their Bible reading is restricted to pages they have copied, passages they have memorized or tattered Bibles shared among the village.
Your prayers and gifts matter, thank you. Because of your prayers and generous financial support Bibles for China teams placed 44,000 Bibles last May.
One member of the Generation Y team (team members age 35 and younger) said the trip could be summed up in two words – “Life Changing”. It is difficult for us in the West to imagine the emotions that grip a Christian when they receive their very first copy of the Bible. With some believers their emotions create an ear to ear smile, with others there is tears, and some are simply awestruck.

It’s Sunday, October 27th, and my nerves are going crazy. I’m anxious, nervous, excited, worried, eager, stressed. To put it lightly, I’m a mess. A friend sees this, and approaches me, asking me to come with him to pray. The words that he spoke rang true throughout the trip… Be still, the God that is here is the same God in China. The
God that has called you to this trip is the same God that is preparing the hearts of the thousands of believers that you will meet during this trip. You are not taking God to China, He’s taking you. Boy was he right!

– The following letter was written just weeks before the team headed out to where they are right now.. distributing Bibles in rural China. Be watching for further updates from their amazing trip and outreach.
I pray that you are doing well! Can you feel the excitement?! We are so close to our May distribution trip! Like the journeys of others in the past, this distribution has the potential to expose thousands and thousands of souls to God’s Word, truth and love. Our fellow Christians traveling to China will experience incredible things. They will meet men and women who have been praying for years for their arrival so that they can receive their first Bible.

In the past, I could never, for the life of me, understand why someone would ever want to go on a mission trip. I always considered missions as a sort of cop out for obtaining a “spiritual high”. It seemed like an excuse just to travel while feeling good about yourself. I always thought, “We have hungry people in our own back yards. Why do we need to go around the world to help other people?” I know that all sounds harsh (and I was extremely ignorant), but I just didn’t get it.
Then one day in October of 2012, a good friend of mine suggested something to me that sounded crazy. See, I went to see him to share some things I was struggling with. We talked about the struggles I had with pride, lust, discontentment, anger and a litany of other sin areas….
In 2014, Bibles for China’s “in-country” partners are offering a Bible for Bible match on the first 20,000 Bibles.
Let’s join their efforts as this doubles the impact of each $5 gift and provides two Bibles for rural China>>>
