The Tender Mercy of Truth
By Mark Luker
If God exists……then doesn’t the truth already exist….?
And….if the truth exists…isn’t there mercy in knowing the truth?
So why is finding the truth such a mystery?
I believe God has held back certain mysteries….(probably because he knows this world cannot handle all the truth)
Luke 8:10 “And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.”
I believe God has mysteries that we have not been shown yet….and he has sent delusion into the world too….
2 Thessalonians 2:11 ”And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:”
Here is a special message for those who don’t believe they really need to be saved……..
2 Thessalonians 2:12 “That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
Is there anyone out there that really thinks that God feels an obligation to “prove” anything to us?
Do you think God could be lying, or has some alternative plan that we aren’t aware of because we can’t “prove” what he has already given us?
Seems to me that the only issue before us is whether or not we believe God has been lying to us….and if we come to a conclusion that we believe he has not been lying to us….then everything should be evident to us and easy to believe right?
Seriously folks.…….I see the sun burning up there in the sky……I know that we need it to survive here on earth…..I also know that it could very well kill us just as easily as it gives us life…..I believe that God put it there with his word…..just as I believe that God keeps it at just the right distance so it won’t kill us…..
However, I will never EVER understand the complexities of how the sun works…..it is enough for me to believe that God put it there.
The choice sits with us as to whether we accept and believe in God’s word…..but the validity of the truth does not depend on our choice…..
The truth exists whether we accept it or not!
Everything about God is Truth!
I believe that God imparts his mercy to us through his very existence! He is already been so just with this world…….
Can anyone tell me of an instance when God has not been just with this world?
Psalm 25:10 ”All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.”
Yet even so, it’s not like God has hidden the truth for only a select few to know….I just can’t believe that God wishes for the truth to be some dark secret.
Isiah 45:19 ”I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.”
In fact, I believe that God didn’t even hide the truth from Adam and Eve…he just wanted to be their sole source of anything they would ever need…..they already had the truth in the world…..when God walked with them! But as we all know….they made the choice to know more…as if they needed to know more.….and thus evil was able to enter into the perfect world that God had made.
Can anyone tell me if they believe there was ever a point in his relationship with Adam and Eve that God lied to them?
In fact…….God didn’t even destroy Adam and Eve when they disobeyed him, butI guess they learned that he wasn’t lying to them didn’t they?
(I’m so thankful that he doesn’t destroy me when I disobey him either)
What was the evil that Adam and Eve ushered into the world when they began to doubt God?
I believe it was that man would ever doubt God and that man would be blinded to the truth.
You see, I don’t believe satan had to work to destroy the truth- (not like he ever had the power to do so anyway) he just had to destroy man’s ability to see the truth…to doubt it.
Why would God ever give us anything but the truth…..?
Matthew 7:9-10 “Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 – Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?”
It is through God’s tender mercies, we have received the truth!
Psalm 40:11 “Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy loving kindness and thy truth continually preserve me.”
