The Sin-less Christian
by Latasha Ransome
Recently I had the privilege of conducting some research on world religions. During the conduction of this study, I came across one common misconception of Christianity. Many non-believers believe that Christians are imperfect beings professing perfection, i.e. hypocrites. While this claim does hold some truth, as some Christians, myself included, have many areas of improvement. Yet, a deeper examination of Christianity will lead observers to discover a fascinating truth.
Jesus Christ (the anointed One) is the only perfect being who will ever live. Thus, Christians, His anointed ones, live sin-less lives through His Holy Spirit, but we will never be sinless individuals. As all humans are inheritors of the sinful nature due to the fall mentioned in Genesis 3.
Therefore, the question of, “what does it mean to be a Christian?” comes to mind. As previously stated, it certainly does not entail being perfect. However, it does involve change, growth and commitment to God. It also entails embracing God’s grace and mercy daily. While sharing His love and forgiveness with others, as Christ has loved us, 1st John 4:19.
Finally, it involves, allowing Him to be a friend, a guide, encourager and Father. Doing so will introduce you into an unspeakable and incomprehensible joy and love.
I pray that reading this has brought some clarity about the Christian faith to you. Maybe you are struggling on a journey to know God, and you’re apprehensive about becoming a Christian because of an experience with an immature Christian. While that is understandable, know that God wants to show you His perfect love.
He wants to share with you how His death equates to you receiving forgiveness and everlasting life. Unlike other religions, Christ is not expecting you to be perfect, as Christ did not come for the righteous, but the sinner, Luke 5:32. Sinners who were lost without Him, searching for a truth that only He can provide.
I pray that your search for such truth ends today. My friend I would love to leave you with these two last verses, they changed my life and I pray that it will do the same for you also.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”
