The Source of our strength

The Source of our strength

By Latasha Ransome

Philippians 4:13 is a Scripture that I hold near to my heart and it has helped me through my faith journey in Christ immensely. Its writer Paul states; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Paul professes this as a statement of faith during a very challenging time during his faith journey in Christ. Paul understood that despite his opposition God would be there to help him endure through it Deuteronomy 31:6. Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

I believe this mindset is crucial for believers today, primarily because we too will encounter challenges throughout our faith journey. Yet, just as Paul declared that Christ was the source of his strength, we as believers should express that same sentiment.

Christ being our strength also entails that we receive His courage to stay true to His character. Meaning that we not only receive the strength to endure challenges, but we also receive strength to stay of God, as in exhibiting His attributes, primarily walking in love. This strength is provided to us through the Holy Spirit, as He is the who empowers us to do ALL things 1st John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world

He also renews our hearts to love the unloving. I believe that now more so than ever believers need to tap into their strength, Jesus, especially considering the conditions of the world today. God is not blind to the issues in the world. He is very much ALIVE and in control. However, He has charged His people with being the light in the mist of darkness, Matthew 5:14. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden And Jesus is the light, John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life

Therefore, As His believers, we are called to live our lives in His reflection. Simply stated we must rely on the strength of God to live, express His love despite the conditions of the world, and to stay focused on enhancing His kingdom, through the spreading of His gospel.

My heartfelt prayer for you my friend is this: I pray that you may continue your faith journey in Christ while depending on His Holy Spirit to empower you to accomplish His will for your life and may the love of God permeate your heart and His strength lead you to spread the unfailing love He has for us with others.

God bless, and thank you for reading
