Which seed are you?
Matthew 13: 4-8; 18-23; 24, 31-33
Psalms 126:5 Hosea 10-12 Matthew 6:26 Luke 12:24 2 Cor 9:6 Galatians 6:8 Rev 14:15
As you read the parable of the seed you cannot help but wonder where do you fit in…which seed are you? As I reflected on this during my meditation, I pondered my works in the kingdom of God. Was I reaping more than sowing or vice versa and while I am sowing, is the work good?
I knew I did not want to be the seed that would just fall and be devoured without having some type of effect beforehand. I knew that I was taking root because of my prayer time, my conversations with God and the simple fact that somewhere in my day, that light shines through on someone who also believes or questions their belief. I do not wish for my seed to be scorched and to wither away. This seed I liken to my spirit. I know I want my seed to fall on good ground and to bring forth fruit. I desire to see the things of the Lord.
What does it mean to reap or sow? When we as believers sow, we implant or introduce a small ember or thought into the hearts and minds of others who wish to know what we know and that with time and patience this is fanned into a beautiful, burning flame or belief that is strong in the Holy Spirit and built on the foundation of Christ. When we reap we as believers gather or group others unto us and enjoy the benefits of the harvest. In other words, we have a bounty of wealth in Jesus Christ and that is shown by the return of the love for Him and the fear of His awesome works.
Right now our seeds are being sown among a nation of thorns, weeds, thistles, briar’s, in other words evil is out there! The bible states that faith as small as a mustard seed ( Matt 17:20) can move a mountain. Remember that a mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds and when nurtured correctly, it grows into a mighty tree to which birds can lodge. Oh to have my faith support other believers, to grow from something so small into something so large..can you imagine? God holds my life in His hands and I put my trust in Him. I want what God wants! I want God to work through me like yeast through bread and make my spirit rise!
Ask yourself, which seed are you?
